At the height of Carnival, the environment is collapsed with costumes, masks and all kind of clothing and accessories with which to transform a few days. Sometimes it is only facade, others interpretation of the character transforms the disguised, but in all cases it is a unique opportunity to let the shame and complex parked a few hours and enjoy disinhibition and the “invisibility” that clothes give us.

As a child I was not used to Carnival, however been older have I found most of the fun that Carnival involves: choosing characterization, gathering materials, elaborating patterns, transforming the idea into reality, testing, adjusting costumes … are the best parts of the process and end up giving the final push to have the “shamelessness” to go down the street as you’re not … Later at street, everything is fun and joy, because if you get over the stage where you find your neighbour in the lift while he is having a deep look at you from top to bottom and then put your feet on the street where coincidentally there is no one in disguise, for sure when you get to the Rua you feel at home and you just move with the music, enjoy the sequins and bustles and dance and sing and enjoy with those like you are having so fun! …

This year the fun has emerged from the illusion of our small daughter, who wanted to go gracefully disguised … do you guess like who? … Scandinavian princess with powers on the ice ….yes, you are right: Frozen, so some weeks ago we bought the fabrics we needed and took a few measures to finally prepare with some patience our Frozen costume! … now let’s see if she wants to wear it, as she hasn’t showed much interest in the latest days …

So to move forward the initial shame during the first hours and encourage her to dress the costume,  I started to show her my wigs from other carnivals … and I have ended dressed  in an old elf costume, that despite my state has suit me, so finally she was more convinced and we are prepared to enjoy a great time of the floats, music, candy, but especially confetti … it was a wonderful morning … full of joy, excitement and much, much love …

and you? did you enjoy the Carnival?

Have a nice week!!!
